The plot - sorry about the length =P
A war is serging through the capital city of England, in fact all around the world countries are teaming up with each other to fight the opposition. Rooms under the ground are being created for the citizens to live in as terror seizes the people around. Men go off to war while women stay and look after their children afraid to face the fact that their husbands may never return. These underground rooms all eventually join together, creating an underground city right underneath the heart of London. This protects those in the city from the bombs flying from the enemy planes. It is a frightening time for all and hope is all they cling to. The world is at war with the one man who plots for power, these are dark times.
Six years later the war has ended in all but two countries. Celebrations spread across England at the defeat of the Germans and the underground shelters are abandoned as people jump to the opportunity to be allowed in the sun without the danger of being bombed. As nature takes it's course a few dogs spread down to the underground which was once teaming with humans, they take their place there and eventually more dogs move down to the underground city. The population of strays finally disappears above ground and the dogs conceal themselves in there new hidden home. Fights break out between the dogs eventually as they argue over the territories. One pack of dogs wish for more power over the underground city and so try to rise up against the other packs, some join them while others go against them. The ones wishing for more power become cold with their desire while the others stayed soft and kind. Some dogs pulled away from the two sides and formed a group of there own 'team Switzerland' or otherwise called the neutrals for they refused to participate in these battles. Those with the cold hearts earned the name of darks while the others who were kind earned the names of lights.
One day a member of one of the packs found a charm on a ribbon, it was some kind of necklace. She put it around her neck and trotted back to the pack, they liked the idea of having these necklaces and created a load for the whole pack - it represented the side they were on. The other two sides liked this idea and stole it, creating necklaces but with a different set of charms. Eventually everyone had a charm and the shapes told everyone which side they were on. Though they did not know of how much they relied on the necklace. One day a dark wished to trick a light into thinking he was one of them so that he could trick her into being his slave. He took the necklace off and left it with his pack. As he approached the female, he fell down dead. Those in his pack tracked his scent when he didn't return and found his dead body. They learned that the necklace had killed him as their lives depended on these charms. Take them off and you died. the news spread fast and the dogs became more wary of each other knowing it would be easy for them to be killed. The next day the dogs woke up confused, overnight there charms had changed. Instead of it being a golden star before one dog had a golden feather. Others had changes like this. They were confused, believing that someone had stolen their charms - but they didn't die. In the end they learned that these charms reflected their personalities like a dark could have a cold, lifeless stone or some kind of miniature skull. They couldn't change their charms and they couldn't take them off. They were born with them on, yet they didn't question it. These dogs have lived like this ever since.
